Affliated to Periyar University
History Department one of the oldest Department of the College was established in 1976. History being a popular course of study, demand for admission to the course was always high. To meet the expectations of students of B.A History Course with two sections. One English medium and the other Tamil medium, each with 50 sanctioned strength. The M.A History course was started in the year 2004-05. The sanctioned strength for M.A course is 36. In addition to M.Phil Research is functioning from the Academic year 2017-18.
