Youth Red Cross

Youth Red Cross is one of the extra-curricular activities of the College. YRC is the most important constituent of its mother organization, Indian Red Cross. It is a group movement organized at the initial stages of the students between 18 and 25 years of age within the colleges. YRC follows the principles of the Indian Red Cross society. It aims to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times, all the forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering be minimized, alleviated and even prevented contributing to create a more congenial space for peace. The focus areas of YRC are promoting humanitarian principles and values. Health and Care Community, Blood donation services and Disaster management. 

The international principles of YRC are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service and universality. The YRC concentrates on protection of health and life, service to the sick and suffering, promotion of National and International friendship, 

In our College, BLOOD GROUPING CAMP, Blood donation camp, AIDS awareness programmes, Drug abuse awareness programmes, Filaria prevention awareness programme etc., are being conducted regularly, in each and every academic year.  

Some Activities :

i) . On 23rd December 2017, the programme officer Mr.S.Shanmugam along with four students participated in One day District level Students study camp for YRC volunteers held at Padmavani Arts and Science College for Women sponsored by Indian Red Cross, Tamilnadu sector. 

ii) . On 23rd Januuary 2018, the Blood grouping and Blood donation camp was organized by the programme officer. 106 Studts and 4 staffs including the programme officer donated blood. 182 students used this programme to indentify their blood group. 

iii). On 26th February 2018, with the guidance of the Principal, the programme officer invited the medical team of PHC, Kattukkottai to the College and organized National Deworming Day Programme. The doctors delivered speeches on health keeping and how to get rid of worms in our body. At the end of the programme, all the students were provided with Albendazole tablets. 

iv). On 5th June 2018, the programme officer and YRC volunteers participated in the Beat Plastic Pollution Campaign in World Environmental Day 2018 organized by the District Collector of Salem.
